Description
This seminar will address the effects of early attachment disruptions in children and the impact that those disruptions have on the child’s emotional development. Participants will gain a better understanding of the impact of trust, safety, and self-esteem on the hurting child.
Objectives
- Define healthy attachment and attachment disruptions
- Define complex developmental trauma
- Identify the implications of attachment disruptions on the child’s development, behavior, and functioning
- Discuss ways to empower caregivers to help these children on their journey of healing
Guest Speaker
Kristin Lowery, LCSW, RPT-S, is a Registered Play Therapist Supervisor with over 15 years experience treating traumatized children and families. She is currently the Attachment Therapy Facilitator and Therapist at Pathways Professional Counseling in Birmingham. She specializes in treating childhood trauma and working with foster and adoptive families.
